Welcome!
The Dental and Oral Health Therapist Association (Queensland) extends an invitation to you for the 2009 Conference being held at the Sebel Cairns Hotel, in Cairns, Queensland from Thursday 20 August to Saturday 22 August, 2009.
Cairns is the "capital" of North Queensland, planted on the doorstep of the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, the Atherton Tableland and Cape York Peninsula. Backed by beautiful beaches, lush rainforests and tropical islands, Cairns provides access to many activities such as bungee jumping, canoeing, horse riding, scuba diving, skydiving or white water rafting from your front door.
Our conference venue is centrally located, close to many restaurants, shopping arcades, nightlife, walking trails, historical buildings, weekend markets and the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Centre.
The theme of our conference is Brush Up, Yarn Up which reflects DOHTAQ's commitment to "closing the gap" in oral health status for Indigenous Australians. We aim to enhance our profession's knowledge and awareness of a broad range of issues affecting the oral health, and therefore, general health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and also to raise the profile of oral health among other Health Care professionals working with Indigenous peoples and their communities.
Our target audience is Health Care professionals from both public and private sectors - local, interstate and international Oral Health Practitioners, Dental Industry representatives and partners, Health Workers engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Health Professionals working with children and adolescents.
We are expecting over 100 delegates in the relaxed atmosphere of Tropical North Queensland.
I look forward to welcoming you all in August.
Regards
Alison Dickinson
President
